CafeIn our daily life standardisation is something we take for granted; when buying a set of plastic sheet covers we don't seem to notice anymore that the covers fit our paper sheets exactly since they both follow the A4 standard.

If your company is seeking a Software Architect and you interview a candidate you might well be astonished that the person applying for the position has a completly different skill set than you had expected, even after all the money you spent on advertising the position. As an applicant you'd be similarly confused. When a contractor tenders for work on a new application intended to boost the business of a company the discussions might be similarly frustrating with both sides having different views of what Software Architecture is. In this presentation we will provide an overview of standards in this area that can lower the levels of astonishment and frustration. We also discuss opportunities for your own involvement in the standardization process whether from a company or an indidividual software professional point of view.
