Three Auckland based conferences organised by The Department of Computer Science

Dear CSI newsletter subscriber,

We have three opportunities for you to participate in Auckland based conferences being organised by Computer Science Department members:

  1. IEEE/ACM Automated Software Engineering Conference (ASE), 2009 16th-20th November
  2. Computer Vision Symposium, 8 December
  3. Australian Software Engineering Conference 2010 Call for industry track papers, deadline 7 December

Each conference provides an opportunity to rub shoulders with world class academic and industry leaders and get the message out about your company or organisation to an international stage.

Details are as follows

1. IEEE/ACM International Conference on Automated Software Engineering, Langham Hotel, 16-20 November

ASE 2009 will be held at the Langham Hotel in Auckland, 16-20 November 2009. The ASE conference has become one of the world's premier Software Engineering conferences with technical research papers, experience reports, demonstrations, short papers show casing emerging topics, a doctoral symposium, associated workshops and tutorials. We are fortunate to have attracted this major international conference to New Zealand and look forward to seeing a strong local representation of participants.

2. Current Trends in Computer Vision, University of Auckland Tamaki Campus, 8 December

Computer vision is increasingly contributing to various applications in industry or technology. Current Trends in Computer Vision will inform you about current developments in this field, with talks given by leading experts from Japan, New Zealand, China, and The Netherlands. This symposium is part of the planning of ACCV 2010, see http://www.accv2010.org/. This will be the first time that New Zealand will host one of the "big three" computer vision conferences (which are ICCV, ECCV, and ACCV), and it will be an excellent opportunity to showcase New Zealand's contributions in computational imaging. The symposium will also provide a chance to inform potential sponsors of ACCV 2010 about sponsorship opportunities. Participation is free at this symposium, and there is also space available in an adjacent seminar room to demonstrate solutions in computer vision, or to pin up a  poster. If interested in doing so, then please contact Professor Reinhard Klette (r.klette@auckland.ac.nz) so that space can be allocated.

3. Australian Software Engineering Conference 2010 Call for industry track papers, deadline 7 December

Auckland is hosting ASWEC 2010 6-9 April 2010. This conference has a very strong industry track which we would like to invite you to consider contributing to. The objective of industry papers is to discuss experiences (both good and bad), obstacles, and lessons learned when applying innovative software development practices in the 'real world'. Experiences from practitioners provide valuable input into future research directions and allow others to learn from successes and failures. Industry papers are an important way of sharing experiences between practitioners and of helping the software industry improve its work practices.

Authors are invited to submit either extended abstracts (minimum 2 pages) or full papers (maximum 10 pages) describing practical experiences in all areas of software engineering. Industry papers should be based on actual practice, and should cover all aspects of the experience - strengths and weaknesses, successes and challenges. Submissions will be assessed on originality, clarity, significance and relevance. One author from each accepted industry paper is required to register as a full-fee delegate and present the paper at the conference. Manuscripts are to be submitted electronically - see the ASWEC 2010 industry papers guidelines page for further instructions.

Submissions due 7 Dec 2009
Acceptance notification 11 Jan 2010
